Yesterday, I was blessed by being told that I should refrain from exercise for at least several days. So naturally, I spent four hours today walking around Downtown Disney for the annual Festival of the Masters art fair. (Reverse psychology still works, check).
Festival of the Masters has hundreds of booths filled with artwork by talented artists of all types. There are painters, photographers, wood-carvers, some weird concepts artists, jewelery makers, and I think a handful of voodoo artists. Out of the group, my favorite was the sidewalk chart artist. Entertaining to watch and extremely talented, I think chalk triggers positive childhood memories that everyone can relate to. And who doesn’t love The Muppets?
In addition to all of the art festivities, there are plenty of specialty shops and restaurants to enjoy. From remodeling your entire kitchen in a Disney theme to finding any Disney Christmas ornament you can imagine, there is a shop for just about anything you can think of. The gal pal and I decided to take a detour at Rainforest Cafe for some lunch. While I ordered water with a chicken caesar salad, my counterpart decided to indulge in a frozen mango mojito with Macadamia Nut Crusted Tilapia & Coconut Shrimp. Needless to say, her meal put mine to shame. It was so amazingly delicious that I shoplifted her photos below and even found a recipe to try to recreate the dish (wishful thinking).
Overall, just like all things Disney, it was a great time. Good fun, beautiful weather, disguised exercise; it just doesn’t get much better. Unless of course, you end the night with a glass of wine (check).
Salud!

my little sister worked for disney and met her husband there in 2004! i’m not a disney fan but absolutely LOVE the muppets, so i often enjoyed visiting and getting into MGM studios for free (to see muppet 3D). now that a new muppet film is on the verge of release, i am SO CERTAIN that disney would be my kind of place!!! yeah for the muppets and for your lovely day at downtown disney! 🙂 x
Thanks so much Nicole! I love the Muppets as well. I think the Muppets Christmas Carol is probably my favorite. Although I enjoyed Muppets Treasure Island. Which one is your favorite? I can’t wait to see the new movie!

followed by “a muppet family christmas” which was a made-for-television film from 1986. 🙂
Sounds like you had a day of culture, cartoons and fine wine! Good for you!
